1. What is arbitration?

Arbitration is an alternative dispute resolution method in which the merits of a case will be judged by an arbitrator who is appointed by the parties and have the knowledge of the issue. It is a binding process. 

2. What is mediation?

Mediation is an alternative method for dispute resolution through dialogue. It is a non-binding process.

3. Why choose mediation?

To reach rapid solutions to disputes and because this method works by voluntary consensus, seeking to stabilize and recuperate the business relationship.

4. What makes the method effective?

The method is effective because of the rapidity, specialization and cost and because of the techniques that mediators use to seek mutual understanding and cooperation.

5. Who can use ARBITAC?

Any private individual or company, whether associated or not to the Parana Chamber of commerce – ARBITAC – for trained mediators and specialist arbitrators.

6. How long does it take?

The interested parties decide on the duration of mediation and arbitration. For arbitration, the law sets out a maximum of 6 months for the arbitral award to be rendered.
